Resolved issues in Microstation CONNECT Update 1

Just tried to update CONNECT update 1 to update 2 using the CONNECTION client, (as it says in the announcement), but there were 'no updates available'. If this is an option for updating the program why doesn't it find the update?
I need to download the microstation J version to run PDS.... where can I find it?
I am wondering if there is a way to either disable or make the "60" a larger number.
I have been using acadpan for quite a few years now and I use the reset button to pan. I have to pan quickly so the Pop-up Menu doesn't appear. Now I would like to be able to pan for a longer time without the Pop-up Menu showing up.
Thank you for ANY help on this subject

How to enable multiple Application Windows in MicroStation CONNECT Edition?
Previous version of MicroStation allowed either a single application window or two windows. This release up to four application windows can be opened for multiple display monitors.
Here on the left hand side you will see a menu with a number of options, Select the Settings option from the menu.
Under the User Settings area you will find the Preferences area.
The Preferences dialog will open where you should go to the Operation option. Here you will find the section entitled "Open Multiple Application Windows". Once this has been selected the pulldown box to the right can be selected and between 2 - 4 application windows can be selected to open with your session of MicroStation. To disable this option just untick it.

This article covers the process for establishing a network workspace for MicroStation CONNECT. It also explains the procedure for using the network configuration for all subsequent installations of MicroStation CONNECT
1. Do not edit any of the configuration files in the program directory structure. This included MSLOCAL.cfg, MSDIR.cfg and MSCONFIG.cfg (see the post on “The CONNECT Configuration”) http://communities.bentley.com/other/old_site_member_blogs/bentley_employees/b/tim_hickmans_blog/archive/2015/09/01/the-connect-configuration
2. In the Installation Wizard, in the “Custom Configuration” dialog box, the settings “Select Organization Directory” and “Select WorkSpaces Directory” are intended to be used to select an existing Organization directory and WorkSpaces directory. They are not to be used to redirect where you want files to be installed.
1. Install MicroStation CONNECT in the default locations. Do not customize the configuration.
2. Copy the “Organization” folder (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Organization), along with all subfolders and all files, to the location you prefer to have the Organizational files located. (your network location)
3. Copy the “Workspaces” folder (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces), along with all subfolders and all files, to the location you prefer to have the workspace files located. (your network location)
4. Uninstall the Software (along with rebooting the computer).
5. Follow Installation procedure below for using an existing networked configuration
1. Run the MicroStation CONNECT installation executable
2. In the Installation Wizard – Click on the “Custom Configuration” label.
3. In the next Installation Wizard dialog box:
a. Set “Select Organization Directory” by selecting the Browse button and browsing to and selecting the existing Organization directory that is to be used. (created previously on your network)
b. Set “Select WorkSpaces Directory” by selecting the Browse button and browsing to and selecting the existing WorkSpaces directory that is to be used. (created previously on your network)
c. To “Set WorkSpaces Label”, type in the label that you want to use in place of “WorkSpaces”. For example: Client.
4. Select the “Save” button and continue on with the installation.

I have installed Microstation SS2 and SS3 on my computer. I can get them both to run (even though one is stuck on high security) and they both pull from the same User Config file from the same location. However, the SS3 user config does not retain the settings while the SS2 opens just fine. Once I solve this I need to ensure that I can install the correct InRoads versions to each as well.
Thanks so much for any suggestions OR 100% correct and simple solutions.

In v 10.02.00.39 When I use the Word Processor Text Editor to Place/Edit existing text, the Left/Right Arrow keys take the cursor in the Text Editor, in the opposite direction to what I would expect. Up/Down keys move as expected, but Left arrow key moves cursor in text to -->, and Right key moves cursor to <-- left? Is there something I have set wrong? Doesn't matter whether you use the main arrow keys or the ones in the Number pad area. This happened in the previous version of Connect I had too!
Forgot to mention I am running in Windows 10
Just noticed that all the underscores "_" in my drawings have turned to asterisks "*". Not sure if I caused this or the LEROY font is bad. Also noticed when I go to text editor the underscore is still and underscore so I cant do a find replace. Help!!!
Hullo,
I have tried searching with google and havent had much luck.
Autocad has the ability similar to Excel to have a custom data field (eg. modifying a date data field from 05/28/1988 to 28/05/88 just by changing variables.
I would like to be able to have a data field that automatically uses the file name as the drawing number - but with out the guff at the end of the file name (eg. 1900-SS-S-0001 Control Plan R01 becomes within the paper space drawing number field 1900-SS-S-0001 )
I would also like to add a Revision Field that looks at the end of the file name.
Any help even if it is - "It cant be done" is appreciated.
I am not the best user of the forums.
Thanks
John
We are now planning out the work for migrating Lincolnshire County Council’s Data Centre to two new Data Centres.
Where the application servers are already on Windows 2008 or Windows 2012, the server names may remain the same but the IP addresses will definitely change. Where the application servers are on Windows 2003, the application will need to be re-installed on Windows 2012 servers (or Windows 2008 if Windows 2012 is not possible).
In the case of SQL servers, we are also running a SQL Consolidation project which will involve migrating databases to SQL 2012.
In the case Of Bentley, we currently use a Windows 2008 application server but there is also a Windows 2008/SQL 2008 server running the Bentley database. So the approach would be to migrate the existing server to the new Data Centre but the server would have a new IP address. We would also need to migrate the Bentley database to a new SQL 2012 server.
As part of the data centre migration, the server names may stay the same but the IP and MAC address will definitely change. Is the application dependent on IP/MAC addresses? If so, please provide details of what will need to be changed.
Are there likely to be any issues if any of the Bentley application were to be hosted on a remote site, for example if the application were to run over a link that has an 11 milliseconds latency? The capacity of the links will be 1GB an so it is not expected that bandwidth will be an issue.
What is the latest supported SQL/Oracle version?
With regards to the move of the application and related servers, are there any tasks which require the third party's involvement? If so, please provide details.
Thanks very much for your assistance
I have a survey file created with Power InRoads SS2 which when opened in SS4 initially looks fine. However if I do a fit all it turns into artifacts spread across the design plane. If I re-open the file with SS4 again it will go back to normal. If I open the same file with Power InRoads SS2 and fit all it fits the elements as expected. I can fix it by referencing the file into a clean dgn and copying all the elements to the clean file, but I would rather figure out what the cause is.
Here is a scree capture right after opening.
This is after a fit.
This is zoomed into one of the artifacts.
Laying utilities at work on areas that do not have pre existing roads in our database. With the SS4 update is there a quick way to lay streets over a bing maps? without using a smartline and clicking every inch? The Road tool is too big to fit on the streets?
Hi,
Is there a Full list of enhancements for microstation U2 anywhere? I keep finding things that was not in the shortlist in the usermanual. Such as the power selector, select by material.
Regards
Helge

I would like to make a Enhancement Request for MicroStation Connect.
The enhancement would be to allow the user to apply a Display Style to the level directly instead of by Element. I never understood why Bentley chose to allow a Display Style on an Element and not allowing it on a level.
Also by doing so I think it will aid in the DWG support when using STB files, since you can apply a Plot Style to a level in AutoCAD.
Thanks,
Gerald Piotrowski
Hello,
There was a discussion about Connect update 1 using the tab File to open recently used files:
communities.bentley.com/.../119072
The delays when going to this tab are terrible - especially when I opened some files on a slower VPN connection. Sometimes 15 seconds and more.
Is there something changed now? Have we the option now not to show those stupid thumbnails which take so much time to load and which are completely worthless?
