I am working with lines from a surveyors model and each has alot of node points.
The problem is how do I get a linestyle of say water that consists of (- - W - - W - - - ) to continue through the node points and stop starting from the beginning. At the moment it just looks like a continuous line.
I am a long time MS user. I am currently using 8.11.05.17 on a Win 7 64 bit machine.
Typically I have a 3 or 4 views open at a time. I stack them such that I can always see a little bit of each view. This allows me to quickly jump between views, and also have the views pretty large relative to the screen. All I need to do is click on the top edge of the view and it jumps to the front. This has worked for over 15 years in all the different iterations of MS.
For some reason this stopped working recently. Now when I click the top edge of a view - it does not come to the front. I need to close and open view ports. At first I thought it was my computer - but it is happening on different computers (laptop and desktop) with different hardware and different video cards. I have tried rebooting machine - nothing seems to fix this.
I am wondering if this is could be related to some Windows update I installed, or is it a MS setting somewhere that I accidentally changed? Not sure how I could have accidentally changed it on two different machines -but anything is possible with a computer.

I'm trying to install it on a Win10 machine. The license is hosted by Bentley. The installation process has completed through installing DirecX 9c, but then it hangs up on downloading the DHTML Editing control for Applications. The download percentage never moves off of 0%, then after several minutes, and error message comes up saying that "Setup for Windows has stopped working" Then all I can do is click the Close Program button and scratch my head.
How to fix or avoid such errors for text when running verifydgn? This started to appear in latest versions and as I got reply from Bentley support it is related to wrong codepage. How to add correct codepage to existing elements?

I have a somewhat overwhelming task infront of me, and was hoping for some help from the forum.
What i have is a set of files that originally came from PDMS. They came in a package of approximately 1000 dgnv7 files. Unfortunately the files do not have any level/ color structure.
I did batch convert the v7dgn files to v8d dgn. After converting the files to v8 the scale is wrong, so I need to fix that. (1meter slab in the V7 file, became 1000meters when converted to V8). At the same time I would like to do a few other things pr file, so I guess this is a good time to try to learn about batch processing and key-in script files. I have never used these tools before, so I am hoping somebody are able to help me out.
The files are basically a large ship that has been split in to 10 sections. Each section consist of around 100 dgn files that again are split on 10 different disciplines. (The file structure looks something like this: Section1-arch1.dgn, Section1-elec1.dgn, Section2-arch10 etc. The level in use has the brilliant name”Level1” for all of the 1000 dgn files…). So If there is a clever/ not to time-consuming way to do this I would like to take all the files for each discipline, and as a minimum, give them a separate color. And maybe also rename the level (Level1) into the name of the discipline it comes from(arc1 etc.), or in to the name of the specific dgn file (Section1-arch1) .
What I am thinking is I will probably have to brake this down in 2 steps, but have no idea how to do it.
My thought was maybe to use batch process to do this on all 1000 dgn files:
Then I would probably have to split the files in to 10 folders, one pr. discipline. And if possible run a batch process pr. folder to remap colors, and rename “Level1” to something that makes more sense. Here is an example for the Arc discipline, pr. file:
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to do this using batch convert/process without involving programing? Any help would be much appreciated as at the moment I’m stuck already on nr 1-wrong scale… (Unless I fix it manually pr. file, using merge in to master on a blank file, and change the scale during the merge etc.)

What is the purpose of 3d sheets?
How should they be used?
You can rotate your 3d model inside the sheet
You can dimension them but those dimensions may not be correct unless the model is rotated flat to the display.
You should be able to rotate a referenced model any direction and get the correct dimensions.
You should be able to change the view setting per attached reference file. Hidden line illustration etc. with out having to save views 1st.

We are facing dynamic display error while capturing line,smartline etc......
In the Image u can see the dynamic display of line is not clearing from screen while moving the cursor we are getting this problem for 120 colors remaining working fine without any display errors.
Attached image u can see the color table, display problem colors are inside the block.
We are using Microstation V8i ss2 and Image station stereo display 2013.
How to resolve this problem ?
What is the reason for display error only to those colors ?
Attached is a Microstation / J file and if you fit it you will find a text node with string [555]. The justification is centre centre
If you open the same file in Microstation/J and Bentley view v8i [select series 4] you will find difference.
Snap using tentative on the textnode, in Microstation/J if you see the snapped point as 8.9, 10 and the textnode [1] is exactly at 10,10 and text string is looking at slightly towards left side. here the textnode is looking correct and the textstring is looking wrong
In bentley view v8i with the same file if you snap feature the snap point is coming at 10,10 here the textnode is looking like it is shifted towards right side.
Why the difference between two versions with the same file. Why both viewers not showing same snap point 10,10.
Can someone put light here?

I've noticed that the v8i version of atools in v8i 33 is not putting text at the centre of shapes even when the setting auto place text centre is used, I have tried with all variations of the text justification and regular shapes like squares, rectangles, triangles and irregular closed polygons and it no longer places the text at the centre like it used to in previous editions... real pity because this is a very useful and easy tool.. all other freeware tools to achieve the same thing require too much configuration and some contravene IT policy whereas the mdl doesnt and can even run on usb memory stick....
if anyone else is getting it to work as intended please post it here include the supplementary files toos just incase...perhaps my files are corrupted somehow...

one of our customer is using Microstation V8i SS2 and he is facing a strange crash when opening the Element Info dialog. See attached screenshot.
What may be the reason of this crash? There seems to be some strange null pointer exception.

I have a problem...when importing a mesh from ContextCapture to Microstation (.obj) and trying to edit it (deleting some of the triangles) the pattern map gets completely out of order.
When importing the mesh the pattern map unit is set to surface and I guess thats why it gets out of order when i edit the surface, but I dont really know.
I hope some of you can help me.

I am using Microstation v8i SS2.
I received a file from my local DOT and need the cell name of the title block which does not appear in the dgn file any longer. Is there a way to tell what cell files have been inserted or attached previously in a dgn file ?
I have started to work on a lot of acad files lately and I always turn off the "Treatment Attachment as Element for Manipulation" option. I was wondering if there is a keyin that I can add to my ucf, startup.bas or a custom button that will turn this option off (automatically in my startup.bas if possible).

I am able to attach DGN from ZIP file directly as reference by using this syntax "C:\temp\zipped.zip\zipped.dgn" but is it possible to attach zipped DGN automatically with drag&drop? There is File->associate which is used for drag&drop but not sure how to link ZIP files correctly.
This seems difficult to find information on - is there a way to add multiple annotation scales to a design? AutoCAD has something similar where you can simply add numerous scales to the annotation list, for example.
I'm trying to show text at multiple scales across different drawings. 1:10, 1:20, 1:30, etc.

Good afternoon,
I'd like some advice and/or instructions on how to install SS4, but keeping SS2 intact, please?
We have ongoing jobs with our local DOT that require us to maintain SS2, but now with a couple new jobs beginning we are also required to use SS4.
I've read in other posts to use the "easymultiinstall.vbs", this however doesn't seem to exist for SS4 or I'm at a loss where it is.
Please offer any help.
