Problem with MicroStation SS3 in Windows10

I just updated to Windows 10 and MicroStation and Bentley Map are behaving quite strangely.

Before I continue I should tell you that my colleague also updated to Windows 10 and everything works fine.

What has happened in my case is that suddenly all MicroStation and Map icons have administrator badge attached even though I'm working on a user with administrator priviledges.

Another thing, and more annoying, is that when a design file is opened in MicroStation or Map all kinds of lines appear:

These seem to be some kind of "ghost" lines as they do not appear when printed and cannot be selected or worked with. It's like the can be seen but aren't there. When all levels are turned off the lines disappear.

Is there anyone who has had a similar problem or is there a known solution?

Batch Processing using an element in a level.

Hello All,

I am not that good in batch processing. We have files that have data that extend over the tile limit. We want to clip out the data beyond the limit.  Is there an easy way to select tile limit as fence and delete the extra data in batch mode? Tile level has only one feature. We want the program to recognize that feature as fence and do the clip.

CE-u1 - Crashing frequency on the rise?

I'm curious if anyone using CE u1 is experiencing an increase in crashes.  It may be just the project I'm currently working on but I'm crashing 4+ times a day now.  It was not this high with the EAP or CE.

CE project explorer, search within a fenced area

Hi,

Using Microstation connect, isit possible to do a search using project explorer within a spesific area/ volume of the design file? Forexample searcing for all cones between 1 and 2 meters, but only within a fenceded area? ( not the whole file)

Connect - Underline Issues

Getting very weird behavior when trying to set underline distance using Connect.

Same text style, then when you edit the space resets to 0 and redoing the style doesn't seem to work.

[CE U1] Cell Library and Properties Window

Hi,

usually I have my Properties Window docked right side of monitor thus open all the time.

I open Cell Library Dialog, select cell lib:
C:\Programme\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\Default\Cell\areapat.cel

When I then click on a cell Microstation hangs.
It seems that it is taking VERY long for loading properties to show in the Proprties Window.
When I close the Properites Window i can click on cells and everythings fine.

view windows not coming to the front

I am a long time MS user. I am currently using 8.11.05.17 on a Win 7 64 bit machine. 

Typically I have a 3 or 4 views open at a time. I stack them such that I can always see a little bit of each view. This allows me to quickly jump between views, and also have the views pretty large relative to the screen. All I need to do is click on the top edge of the view and it jumps to the front. This has worked for over 15 years in all the different iterations of MS. 

For some reason this stopped working recently. Now when I click the top edge of a view - it does not come to the front. I need to close and open view ports. At first I thought it was my computer - but it is happening on different computers (laptop and desktop) with different hardware and different video cards. I have tried rebooting machine - nothing seems to fix this. 

I am wondering if this is could be related to some Windows update I installed, or is it a MS setting somewhere that I accidentally changed? Not sure how I could have accidentally changed it on two different machines -but anything is possible with a computer. 

Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Rotate text upright

Hi

I have an alignment from Bentley Railtrack where the stationing text is perpendicular to the alignment – all looks good on a 2D drawing.

But we need the stationing text for an animation and we need to rotate the text upright. So the result would be that you can read the text while driving along the alignment.

The problem is that the alignment has curves so a general XYZ system does not work to rotate all text since the text will not rotate correctly throughout the alignment.

Does anyone have a macro designed for selecting each stationing text, getting the existing rotation, define and rotate the XYZ for that text, stand the text upright and move on to the next text.

Or is there another solution to this?

AutoCAD with Embedded Raster Conversion to DGN

I have an AutoCAD file with an embedded raster and I need to extract the raster from the file because Microstation will not recognize the raster. As it is currently I cannot do anything to the raster.

How do I get that raster back in a conversion to Microstation DGN files?

MicroStation CONNECT Supported Databases

In CONNECT Edition, database supported info has been changed.


Those main stream relational database versions which are NOT supported by their producers are removed from our support list as well.

text background

i'm trying to turn off the text background in a reference file and have tried several methods including "hide field background" under preferences which doesn't seem to work with this file. also tried to turn off the background in the text style however the option to do this isn't available?

Word Processor Subscript and Superscript

I used the superscript aspect of the Word Processor dialog box this morning, and found that the size is way to small. If I copy / paste a superscript "2" from the Character Map it's fine, but the size of a 2 made into superscript with the superscript button on the WP dialog box is much too small. It's about a third of the size of a Character Map superscript 2. What is up with this?? Can the size of the superscript be changed? Would appreciate any tips. The Help menu in Microstation doesn't say very much at all.
