Background

I have a ground model made up of multiple individual triangles in 3D and want to project a 2D line onto the multiple triangles so it follows the 3D surface of triangles.

Steps to Accomplish

    1. In the Visualization Task select the ' Stencil 2D Elements on 3D Geometry ' tool
    2. In the Tool Settings dialog select the icon ' Stencil Selected Elements ' and set the direction to Z
    3. Optional - In the Tool Settings dialog check the ' Remove Original Elements ' thus the 2D line is removed. Also set the Surface Offset and Tolerance required
    4. In the Top view select the 2D line to project and except with a data point in the view to project the 2D line over the multiple 3D triangles in the Z direction
