Problem
Why the Plan, Section and Elevation callouts and Drawing Identifiers fields are not updated after they are created and placed in a named Drawing model?
Background
The Elevation, Plan or Section View was created with a chained Drawing model only and without a Sheet model.
The Callouts, Sheet Name and Drawing Identifiers link to properties of Sheet models and not of Drawing models.
When you place a section, elevation or plan callouts, MicroStation creates a saved view. This saved view needs to be attached into a sheet model, either manually or by using Create Drawing dialog, for these fields to get updated.
The Drawing Identifier points to the unique ID given to a sheet after a reference is attached to it and gets updated only when the section (or plan or elevation ) saved view is attached to a sheet.
This is why these fields are updated "correctly" when you create a sheet model from the place callout dialog, regardless of a drawing model being created or not.
Solution
Check that the "Create Sheet" option is also ticked in the "Place Callout" dialog, when creating an Elevation, Plan or Section View. If only "Create Drawing" is ticked, the data fields will not be updated with the View name.
The Saved View created by the "Place Callout" tools needs to be attached to a Sheet model in order for the Callout, Sheet Name and Drawing Identifier fields to be automatically updated.
