Problem
Converting various elements to one elevation
How can elements created on various Z depths be moved onto
one single elevation, without manually moving them?
Product: MicroStation J
Area: Import/Export
Solution
The easiest way to accomplish this is by converting the file to 2D
then back to 3D :
1) Convert the file to 2D by choosing File>Export>2D. Have Source
set to Design File, View set to the view window number which
represents a Top view, Reference Files set as needed, and the
Preserve Z Range option toggled off.
2) Open the newly created 2D file to confirm all elements have
converted correctly.
3) Choose File>Export>3D. Have the Source set to Design File, View
set to Top, Z Depth Options set to Fixed and a value entered
representing the required elevation for all elements, and Reference
Files again set as needed.
4) The end result will be a 3D file with all elements on the same
Z elevation
Note : "Top" may be replaced by another appropriate orthogonal
view if the "elevation" data is in the X or Y direction
