Problem
How can I link details of a Sheet Number from a Model or design file that is external to the current file?
Solution
To perform this operation, you need to create a new cell that contains a Link Property from a Text Field that points to the Sheet Number of any model.
Step One
Create a new Cell Library, or use an existing one, to create this new cell.
Step Two
Place a Text Field using the Placeholder Link Properties option with Link Type as Model. This will be used to point to the Sheet Number of any external model.
Step Three
When the Fields Editor dialog appears select the Sheet Number option from the existing model. This will be used in the future to link to any external design file model to display the Sheet Number information.
Step Four
Place this text in the Cell that you've created so that it is snapped to the centre of the model on the ACS Triad.
Step Five
Open another DGN design file and place this new cell.
Step Six
Open the Explorer tool dialog and list all the Sheet models under the Links section. Right click on the chosen Sheet Model and select the menu option Add Link To Element.
Step Seven
Click on the Cell you've placed for the Sheet Number and you will see the text change to that of the Sheet Number from this model.
