Hi Guys,
Ive been using microstation for around a year now and i have been given this extremely tedious task which will be a repeat task in the future.
Ive basically been given drawings that had been converted from REVIT & Autocad. These drawings have came through under certain levels & cells that seem to be under the same common level or cell name. Ive been given a different library by our client to 'conform' the drawings to their standards. i have their conform tool which selects items on the drawing which is unknown to their standards and i need to select which item it is, eg, beam, column, 3.5mm text , linear dim etc.
im not asking someone to write me a script or VBA because thats just downright lazy ( it would be awesome though) and i know i need to learn & research how to do so but i was wondering what the best approach would be to try and take a level / cell/ shared cell , and ifentify the name and link it to the clients cell library.
say for example i have a drawing converted from revit and it contains items named 1,2,3,4,5 and in my client library the same items are called a,b,c,d,e . I would like a script to say 'if item 1 is found , replace with a' , if item 2 is found, replace with b, etc.
then i could go through the long process of linking every possible cell/item with the ones in their library and i could just run it on every drawing. Now i know there are so many variables like text fields within cells and how would the scripy know the insertion point & orientation but i want know if what im trying to acheive is possible.
thanks in advance guys.
Liam
