Microstation connect edition Extremely slow despite a rather simple object? am i doing something wrong or is the program just bad?

This is my first time working with the connectedition, before that I always used v8i. I'm about halfway through my project and can't go on, as even simply cutting two objects

 can take up to 5 minutes, as the program freezes non-stop. I've already loaded an old, more complicated project which was created in

v8i without any problems, and it can be edited without any problems.


here are a few strange things that i noticed

almost all layers seem to be in use having objects in them, although there is actually nothing in them?

if you save the file as v7 (older version) and open it in v8i you don't get the objects, but only the lines and objects that were used for cutting and modeling,

 although these were actually deleted.

it is enough to move the mouse button over a line of an object to freeze the program for 30 seconds 

If you select an object with a mouse click, all previous operations (cutting, rounding, etc.) are displayed as small symbols. is that normal?

does anyone know whether it is just very slow, or have I done something wrong, or selected wrong settings? I'm not very familiar with this program
