Hi folks,
I suspect this question is one that gets asked a lot but I've yet to find a clear answer that I can understand. I want to find out how to add dimensions & text in a sheet model that are of a reasonable size. I thought I cracked it today but frustratingly I was way off. Let me describe what I'm doing and perhaps someone can put me right.
I have created a number of sheet models at A3 to A0 paper size with title block. My workflow is to reference in a map tile to the sheet, apply a scale to the reference (say 1:2500) then place a block around the section I want and clip it. I then am faced with adding text & some dimensions. When I select the Dim tool the output is huge,.... after a while I stumbled on a 'paper' scale setting in the model properties dialog. If i set this to 100 I can achieve something that looks respectable, or so I thought. However, as I discovered this evening, what seems to be happening is that my sheet border & title block etc is being enlarged by a factor of 100. The dim text size remains the same as before - it just appear to look better.. I'm also left with what MS understands to be the 'sheet' as a small rectangle in the bottom corner near the origin - invoking the print dialog supports this as selecting sheet (as opposed to View/Fence) just shows white space.
So,.. can any body put me right. my sheets are all drawn in mm so 1:1
Years ago when I was using MS in ~2000 I used to place the border/title block as a cell in the Model & copy what I needed into it, fence & print. I'm trying to get up to speed with Sheets as I will be required to do a little drafting over the course of the the next few months.
Regards
Steve
