How to print 3D content within a 2D PDF

Background

Typical example being having a drawing frame containing both 2D and 3D content and would like the ability to navigate the 3D content from within Adobe Reader

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Produce a model containing the 2D content as required.

  2. Reference in the 3D content into the 2D model ensuring the reference attachment setting 'Plot As 3D (PDF) is selected ( See below image )

  3. Plot using the pdf.pltcfg plot configuration file to produce the pdf.

Alternatively if the 3D content is already attached as a reference, open the References dialog, highlight the reference to affect and select the Plot As 3D ( PDF) option.
