Problem

What is the calculated transparency of overlapping shapes?

Solution

Combined Transparency = 1-((1 - Opacity_of_A)*(1 - Opacity_of_B))

For Example:

  • There are two regions A and B
  • The opacity of region A is 10%
  • The opacity of region B is 30%
  • The calculated transparency is 1-((1-0.10)*(1-0.30))=0.37
