Raster Image Display Issue - MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 4)

Good morning BC,

We've recently discovered a Raster Display issue, where attached Image Files (Ex. *.sid File Types) do not display the Image content. You can visualize/select the Image Boundaries, and see them attached via Raster Manager (no missing or not found Files). It should be noted that the Raster Image Files are attached to a MicroStation Design File, which is referenced into the Active File/Model.

Here is a detailed description of the scenario:

  • 2 Image Files (*.sid) are attached to Aerials.dgn.
    • Image Files are attached with a Level that is displayed/turned on.
  • Aerials.dgn is attached to Drawing.dgn.
    • 2 Image Files can be seen upon attachment, and during work activities within Drawing.dgn.
  • Aerials.dgn Reference Attachment (Display) is turned off from within Drawing.dgn.
  • MicroStation session is closed.
  • A new MicroStation is initiated, and Drawing.dgn File is opened.
  • Aerials.dgn Reference Attachment (Display) is turned on from within Drawing.dgn.
    • Some users need/wish to turn off the imagery to complete specific drawing activities, and often forget to turn on the Attachment before closing the File. Not a huge concern.
    • 2 Image Files (content) cannot be seen/are not displayed.
      • Image Boundaries can be visualized/selected.
      • Images Files are still valid (Attachments), as the Files can still be found in their original location.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The quickest workaround that seems to address this issue is to simply issue the RD= key-in command to close and re-open the File. A bid odd, if you ask me.

Computer Setup

  • 32GB RAM
  • GeForce GTX 1080 Video Card (8GB)
  • MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 4), Version 08.11.09.832
