This begins with the way the design software dumps out Road cross sections, but it has plenty of generic Microstation application.
In the best possible world, each sheet in a plan set is its own, individual sheet model.
Sometimes, for whatever reasons, I have to work with files where a single model contains many sheet borders.
I've become enamoured with Fields, Project Explorer and sheet numbering. Using the model property sheet number, I can create a sheet index that updates almost automatically, sheet reference notes that almost update themselves, and the ability to leave "space" in my plan set for subcontractor sheets without either creating a bunch of blank pages (Print Organizer) or hand editing every sheet number every time. Fields, placeholders and model properties are helping me solve some long-standing problems.
But they don't work on the scenario described above. What does?
I've heard that I could use tags to represent my sheet numbers, but I have no idea how to get them to update automatically if the sheet numbers change. Is there something I'm missing?
Is there some way to generate a field that could understand "Sheet number + X"?
I'd love to see one sheet per model, but I don't get to control the world
That's probably a good thing...
