Problem
With the improvements being made in the operation of the i-Model file format how can the version of each be ascertained.
Solution
You can find the *.imodel file version by simply following these steps.
- Open the *.imodel file using the Notepad text editor supplied with Windows. Near the end of the file you will see text like:
ItgDgnDbImporter *.*.*.*
For example: The following screen capture shows the text ItgDgnDbImporter 1.5.8.35 - The version listed next to the text ItgDgnDbImporter is directly related to the version of *.imodel file that has been created.
ItgDgnDbImporter 1.5.7.x or below version produce a 1.5 iModel version
ItgDgnDbImporter 1.5.8.x, 1.6.x.x and below 2.0.x.x produce a 1.6 iModel version
*** Note ***
All MicroStation V8i versions are packaged with ItgDgnDbImporter 1.5.7.x but if both MicroStation V8i and CONNECT Edition are installed on the same PC then the higher version of ItgDgnDbImporter will replace the old one. This would then produce the corresponding higher version iModel, even using MicroStation V8i.
The latest releases of MicroStation CONNECT Edition (Update 6) and above produce iModel 1.6.
