Setting display order of master file and reference file graphics
Background
In Microstation/J and V8 2004 the display order was mainly based on file order. In MicroStation XM this behavior could be kept by setting the configuration variable MS_LEGACYDRAWORDER. In MicroStation V8i this variable is no longer used.
Steps to Accomplish
Setting up custom display style option
- Open the View Attributes dialog
- Click on the magnifying glass to open the Display Styles dialog
- Select a Wireframe Display Style and make a copy of it
- Rename the copy to something meaningful
- Check the Use File Order for Display option
- Go back to Reference file dialog (File>Reference), go to Settings>Update Sequence
- Set the proper order desired display of master file and reference file as done in previous versions.
- Apply by hitting OK button
This check box replaces a configuration variable that was used in earlier editions. Prior to the V8 XM Edition “legacy draw order” was always used, meaning that regardless of an element´s Z value, elements that were added to the file later were displayed on top. In the V8 XM editions, the element´s Z value was respected, but you could set a configuration variable to enable the old behavior. In the V8i and later editions, turning on this check box enables the old behavior.
