With medium to large models, having the Cut graphics on the Clip Volume slows things down a lot.
When the Clip Volume is manipulated, the Foward graphics blanks out as the handles (or Shape/Volume) is manipulated. This makes it very hard to estimate when to stop moving/manipulating the cut... making the DV's uncessarily exasperating to use due to the lack of visual feedback. When the user stops modifiying the extent of the Clip Volume, the Cut graphics are generated then the Forward/Back graphics.
What I discovered is that if you turn the Cut graphics setting off in the View Attributes dialog first, the Forward/Back graphics updates a lot quicker and provides the necessary visual feedback.
What would be good is an option/setting that automatically suspends the Cut graphics setting, when the Clip Volume is being manipulated, before the turning it back on after a user-defined period (say 1s default).
This simple 'hack' would go a long way to making DV and BV's (which probably suffer even longer lags) more enjoyable to use.
PS: It would also be good to suspend or toggle Accusnap during the manipulation period, as it just slows the whole process down by 'stuttering' the visual feed back that the user gets.
